Target Audience

Library staff who are currently supervisors and have less than five years of supervisory experience. (More experienced supervisors are welcome, if this is their first supervisory training.)

Super Library Supervisor

Registration for the Super Library Supervisor Workshop Series Fall 2017 will open at 10:00 AM on Tuesday, July 18, 2017.

There will be another series in Spring 2018.  Dates to be announced.

This series of training workshops in supervisory skills has been serving the New Jersey library community for over 15 years.

Series Topics and Dates:

  • What it Means to be a Supervisor 
    Thursday, September 7, 2017 - 9:30am- 3:30pm
  • Communications and Resolving Staff Conflict
    Thursday, September 28, 2017 - 9:30am- 3:30pm
  • Personnel Documentation & Evaluation
    Tuesday, October 3, 2017 - 9:30am- 3:30pm
  • Human Resources Basics That Every Supervisor Should Know AND Running Successful Meetings
    Wednesday, October 18, 2017 - 9:30am- 3:30pm

Continental breakfast and networking from 9:00 to 9:30 am.

Target Audience:

  • Library staff who are currently supervisors and have less than five years of supervisory experience.
  • Participants MUST be actively working as a supervisor at the time the series begins.
  • More experienced supervisors are welcome, if this is their first supervisory training.  

This is a series of 4 workshops. 

Space is limited to 30 participants.

Deadline: Registration will close on Tuesday, August 8, 2017 or when the limit has been reached, which ever comes first. We will accept up to 50 registrants. 30 participants will be chosen from this group by lottery.

Super Library Supervisor is extremely popular and space is limited to 30 participants to maintain a high level of quality in each workshop. We will be using the same equitable registration and lottery process implemented in 2016:

  • Registration will open at 10 AM on Tuesday, July 18th. We will take up to 50 initial registrants through Tuesday, August 8th.
  • Once we close registration, we will use a lottery process to select a final total of 30 workshop participants.
  • Registration only places you in the lottery.  You will be notified after registration closes if you were successful or not in obtaining a place in the Fall Series.
  • There will be a limit of only 1 participant from any library organization.
