LibraryLinkNJ announces that the QandANJ virtual reference service will end on December 31, 2011. Please read this entire notice.
The LibraryLinkNJ Executive Board responded to the request of the New Jersey State Library to fund the QandANJ service until December 31, 2011, while the New Jersey Library Association’s Virtual Reference Task Force investigated other service options and other funding. A Memorandum of Agreement is in place with NJLA that LibraryLinkNJ funding responsibilities cease on December 31, 2011. NJLA Board President, Susan O’Neal, has advised LibraryLinkNJ there is no bridge service ready to begin on January 1, 2012. Accordingly, the QandANJ service ends on December 31, 2011.
A message to the public regarding the service end is on the QandANJ website: www.qandanj.org. The wording of the message was coordinated with NJLA and will be revised after December 31.
Customers of the service are receiving a note about the service end at the conclusion of each individual QandANJ session.
QandANJ paid freelancers and staff in volunteer libraries and the volunteer back up referral library, Princeton Public Library, have been notified of the service end. These exemplary volunteer libraries and dedicated freelancer staff will receive individual acknowledgements from LibraryLinkNJ in January.
Anyone wishing to send a personal note for the QandANJ team may email email@example.com by December 28. We will compile a summary of your notes for the QandANJ staff and volunteers.
Member Library Responsibilities:
Inform all library staff of the cessation of the QandANJ service on December 31, 2011.
Review the QandANJ website www.qandanj.org and determine locally the extent of time the link to QandANJ will remain on your local website. The wording will be revised after December 31.
