Book award season has started off with a bang. Time to check your shelves, orders & holds lists!

The National Book Foundation has announced both their longlists & finalists for the National Book Award in the categories of Fiction, Nonfiction, Poetry, and Young People’s Literature. Winners will be announced at a ceremony and banquet on November 16.

This year's class of MacArthur Foundation Genius Grant winners include authors poet Claudia Rankine, longform journalist Sarah Stillman, graphic novelist Gene Luen Yang, and poet Maggie Nelson.

The longlists for the Andrew Carnegie Medals for Excellence are out, too, and what lists they are - so many great choices here for you and the avid readers in your community.

As we library people have known for years, listening isn’t cheating: audiobooks help readers learn!

Four new movie-length episodes of Gilmore Girls will be available on Netflix starting on Friday, November 25, and the NYPL is ready, with an assist from their Ultimate Gilmore Girls Reading List.

Over at Booklist, Rebecca Vnuk is asking for feedback from libraries that have started offering highly customized & personal readers' advisory service. Let her know if your library fits this description!
