The Value of a Public Library

All who work in public libraries are aware of the evolution of services, from primarily a warehouse to a trusted institution for community engagement.  All who work in a public library should examine the needs of their community and develop services and resources to meet those needs, realigning their service models, to ensure the continued growth of the library.

This workshop will:

  • Outline best practices of exciting new service models, in NJ and throughout the US, to inspire the group participants.
  • Discuss the steps necessary to revise the focus of library service, including searching for partners and alternate funding resources.
  • Involve the participants in thinking about the future of their institution and speculating about a possible new direction.
