Heads-Up and Important Notices about the LibraryLinkNJ Website Launch

Please DO NOT CREATE YOUR USER ACCOUNT until we officially launch our website. The "Create new account" link is enabled for our launch preparation, but since we are working on final editing for the data fields for user account, all user account requests will be denied until our official launch.

LibraryLinkNJ is excited to announce that we will launch our new website by mid-April.  After the launch, the way you use the LibraryLinkNJ website will change.  A document and possibly a screencast of the step-by-step instructions on how to use the website will be posted on the front page. Members can also participate in one of three webinars that we will schedule to help users become familiar with the new website structure, following the website launch.  We expect the current listserv structure to be in place for 30-60 days following the website launch.

Please note that the website is still under its final production, so please be patient until we announce the launch.

The LibraryLinkNJ website is implemented in Drupal (an open source content management platform.) Drupal allows the users who have various privileges to customize the web site’s functionality to meet specific needs.  The website is also using civiCRM (an open source customer relationship management software), which provides an integrated solution for an event management system and member library and individual user data updates.   We give special thanks to our own staff and the Website Advisory Task Force for evaluating and testing the website navigation and functionality.

Please note that the website is still under its final production. For example, the voting rep list is not final yet, and all the member library information will be updated by each library’s primary contact after we launch the site.

Here are some alerts on important changeswith the new website for all the Member Libraries and the Network participants.

Users will be assigned a role depending on their user account status and the responsibility to their library.  Here are the three most important defined roles of General Users for LibraryLinkNJ:

User Role

Accessible Tasks

(no user account)

  • Can only view content that is marked for public viewing.
  • (Forum content will not be visible to anonymous user.)

(users with an account)

  • Update own user information and reset password.
  • Register for events (all event types including Continuing Education programs).
  • View and Participate in forums.
  • Make comments.
  • Use any online forms in the future.

Primary Contact

(users with an account and listed as the primary contact for their library)

  • All Accessible Tasks for Authenticated User +
  • Update their library information (except for Delivery ID, Delivery Frequency, and Voting Rep)
  • Report the library’s monthly delivery stats (New delivery stat report requirements are posted on the website.)

If you are the library director or the head of your libraryregardless of library type, we need your action prior to our official website launch.

  1. Please go to the following page: http://librarylinknj.org/libraries
  2. Find your library information and ONLY check if the primary contact (name & email address) listed on your library information page is correct.  Your primary contact will be able to update your library information after our official launch.  (Note: all four search options are in the relationship of “AND”.)
  3. If the information is correct, you do not need to take any action.
  4. If the information is not correct or you want to change the primary contact; or if you do not see any primary contact information, please email me (lyu@infolink.org) with the information (name & work email address)  by Wednesday, April 6.  If you need to have two people assigned as your library's primary contacts, please send me the second person's name and work email address as well.
  5. Instructions on how to update the library information will be posted at the launch.

For all individual users:

  • As the website is launched, you will be asked to create a user account with your choice of user name, your work email address and some personal information like your name, library name, etc.  Your account will be active at the website admin’s approval, and you will be notified by email with a link to set your password.  Please note that you cannot create a user account (the link is disable until we launch the website.)
  • You have to create your account with your work email address first in order to authenticate your identity.  Once your account is approved by the admin and you set your password, you can update the email address.  If you are the primary contact of your library, however, please keep your work email address for your account in order to update your library information and report the monthly delivery stats.   If you currently do not have a work email, we will still help you with creating your user account.
  • You can set your username to be anything as long as it is unique. Please keep in mind that your username will be displayed to others when you post forum topics, leave comments, or participate in other ways online.
  • The new website will provide a secure way to reset your password yourself at any time.  If you need to reset or have forgotten your password, go to our website and click the “Request New Password” link and provide your email address.  We will send you a link to your email address that allows you to reset your password

We are planning to implement exciting new features to the website and create other online services in the future.

If you have any questions about performing a specific task on the LibraryLinkNJ website after the launch, please do not hesitate to contact me (lyu[a]librarylinknj.org).
