Library Associate: Local History & Genealogy, part-time 25 hours/week

SUSSEX COUNTY LIBRARY SYSTEM - MAIN LIBRARY, 125 Morris Turnpike, Newton NJ

Where is this? The Main Library is the largest of the Sussex County Library System’s six buildings. It is a well-used facility just outside the town of Branchville, and it serves as the central hub of the County’s library system.

Who are they looking for? Someone who is: enthusiastic about history and preservation, not afraid of technology, detail-oriented, and excited to help Sussex County residents answer their questions. Current, former, and potential MLS students encouraged to apply. Bright, curious, history-focused, friendly, organized, service-minded—if you identify with these descriptors, we’re looking for you!

Why should I apply? Not many public libraries in NJ have the resources, large service region, and collection of local history materials that are available at the Sussex County Library System. If you are interested in contributing to the preservation, accessibility, and growth of our collections in a community-focused environment alongside friendly, collaborative colleagues, this could be just the opportunity for you.

What else do I need to know? Civil Service position (entry level); 25 hours/week, including some Saturdays; $21.11/hour; Bachelor’s degree required; archival or public library experience or MLS coursework helpful but not required; must reside in, or relocate to, NJ in accordance with state law.

I’m convinced! How do I apply? Resume & three references to kfreisinger [at] sussexcountylibrary.org
