Cultural Awareness and Intentional Inclusion

This highly interactive program will provide all library staff with the tools and skills to work and manage effectively across cultures.

Participants will:

  • Analyze the concept of culture as it relates to their professional context in the library and the community
  • Identify how cultural orientations influence communication, expectations, conflict resolution, decision making, identity, leadership, relationships, the use of time, and status within the group
  • Discuss and practice communication skills that promote sensitivity when communicating with people from various cultures
  • Apply cultural knowledge to resolve case studies and develop an individual action plan to enhance customer service and interactions with colleagues

Note: Offered in 3-hour or 5-hour versions. The description above is for the 5-hour version. The 3-hour version will have less content and cover fewer topics. The consultant will work with you to determine the best format and what content can be included.
