Descriptions

QR codes have grown in popularity over the past year or so, showing up on everything from historic buildings to business cards to bags of chips. Also known as Quick Response codes, QR codes are 2D barcodes that any camera-enabled mobile phone can read. Libraries can use QR codes to link users to websites, phone numbers, text messaging, and text, image or video content. QR codes let libraries connect patrons, wherever they are, to resources and information about their interests. This session will provide users with the information they need to get started with creating and using QR codes, and will show examples of innovative uses of QR codes in libraries and related institutions.

After attending this webinar, participants will be able to:

  • Create QR codes and read them with a smartphone
  • Analyze applications of QR codes in libraries and related institutions
  • Consider and plan how they can use QR codes at their library
