Descriptions

Many frequently-used reference sources are now available online, but their large quantity and variable quality can bewilder even the most seasoned reference provider.  Please join us as we explore the world of online reference for youth service providers by taking real-world reference questions from children and young adults and answer them accurately using databases and free web resources such as Wikipedia, Google, Amazon and much, much more!

After attending this webinar, participants will be able to:

  • Identify and use the most child- and teen-appropriate databases offered through the NJ State Library
  • Bookmark, use and share the best websites for answering common questions asked by children and young adults.
  • Determine the reliability, accuracy, currency and authority of online reference sources.
  • Consult website aggregators like the Internet Public Libraryand KidsClick!to answer children’s and teens’ reference questions.
