Descriptions

This is Part 2 of our full-day, hands-on Kids & Tech Workshops. To register for Part 1: PowerPoint for Lively, Interactive Storytimes click here: http://librarylinknj.org/content/powerpoint-lively-interactive-storytimes

As technology continues to embed itself in our everyday lives, it is important for us to engage our patrons in fun and creative ways by using a wide variety of media. By developing technology-based programs for children as young as eight years old, librarians can help tweens develop lifelong skills to stay a step ahead in today's tech-savvy world.

In this workshop, you will learn how to use Scratch, a free software developed by Massachusetts Institute of Technology, to enrich creativity, enhance problem solving skills, and build communication skills with your young patrons by developing animation, games, music videos and informative presentations.

Learning Objectives:

After attending this workshop, participants will be able to:

  • Explain and share the what, who, where, and why behind Scratch
  • Use Scratch’s software programing language
  • Create and share your own interactive game, animation and informative presentation
  • Access Scratch ideas, experiences, and resources through ScratchEd
