LLNJ Skill Sharing Conversation

Topic: Skill-Sharing Conversation: D&D Programs for All Ages

Tabletop role-playing games, or TTRPGs, are a mainstay for library gaming programs, and for good reason. They offer opportunities for people of all ages to play and explore. Among the most games is Dungeons & Dragons, commonly referred to as D&D.

D&D is a tabletop role playing game in which players take on the roles of adventurers and go on epic quests. The game, which is part improvisation, part storytelling, is increasing in popularity, but finding a game to play can be difficult, especially for new players who don’t know where to start.

The library, as a familiar and safe space with resources, can teach patrons of all ages about this hobby and provide a space to play. According to the American Library Association, "D&D is an outlet for creativity, encourages social interaction between people of diverse backgrounds, and fosters reading comprehension and critical thinking skills."

Are you looking for offer D&D programs for adults or teens at your library? Feel free to join us as we talk about the appeal of D&D, and the values the game can instill in players of any age. Library staff of all types are welcome to join!
