Youth Services Librarian or Associate (full-time 35 hours per week
The salary minimum with a MLIS is $64,022.00 per year and includes municipal medical and dental benefits.
The Bernardsville Public Library is seeking an enthusiastic Youth Services Librarian or Library Associate to work full-time. The ideal candidate will be able to create and sustain fun and interesting youth programs, including several weekly early childhood babytimes, storytimes, and other preschool activities.
This position may require a regular weeknight shift and some weekend shifts.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
- Knowledge relating to children, literacy, and learning
- Ability to cooperate and collaborate with library staff and community members
- Creativity and interest in developing, documenting, anticipating purchasing needs, and completing library programs for youth on a weekly basis
- Ability to provide excellent customer service
- Ability to use an online calendar
- Ability to select, use, and share library and community resources, services, and programs
QUALIFICATIONS
- Successfully worked with children
- Successfully worked in a library, school, or recreational setting
- An advanced degree in library science or a field related to early childhood education is preferred
OPTIONAL SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
- Familiarity with office tools such as Google Drive, Word, and Canva
- Familiarity with the Main Library Alliance resources and procedures
- Fluency in Spanish
