Youth Services Librarian or Associate (full-time 35 hours per week

The salary minimum with a MLIS is $64,022.00 per year and includes municipal medical and dental benefits.

 

The Bernardsville Public Library is seeking an enthusiastic Youth Services Librarian or Library Associate to work full-time. The ideal candidate will be able to create and sustain fun and interesting youth programs, including several weekly early childhood babytimes, storytimes, and other preschool activities.                                                            

This position may require a regular weeknight shift and some weekend shifts.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Knowledge relating to children, literacy, and learning
  • Ability to cooperate and collaborate with library staff and community members
  • Creativity and interest in developing, documenting, anticipating purchasing needs, and completing library programs for youth on a weekly basis
  • Ability to provide excellent customer service
  • Ability to use an online calendar
  • Ability to select, use, and share library and community resources, services, and programs

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Successfully worked with children
  • Successfully worked in a library, school, or recreational setting
  • An advanced degree in library science or a field related to early childhood education is preferred 

OPTIONAL SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Familiarity with office tools such as Google Drive, Word, and Canva
  • Familiarity with the Main Library Alliance resources and procedures
  • Fluency in Spanish
