The Trenton Free Public Library is expanding our staff and we are seeking a full-time Outreach and Communications Librarian or Library Associate. The main focus of this position is to communicate to residents in print, digitally, manage social media accounts and via in-person events about all the resources, materials and programming available at the library. We are looking for innovative and new ways to promote the rich resources unique to the Trenton Free Public Library.
Areas of responsibility involve outreach, promotions, and marketing and includes creating graphics, publish monthly e-newsletter, manage library social media accounts, grow our audience and initiate special projects such as a local history podcast, a history newsletter or similar that capitalizes on our unique Trentoniana collection (60%). Other duties include providing reference desk assistance, trouble-shoot patron technology needs, may assist in one or more areas such as program planning, collection development, displays, and/or readers advisory (40%).
All staff are required to maintain an awareness of trends in public libraries, continued professional development and being active in professional organizations is encouraged.
This is a full-time is 35-hours per week, Civil Service and Union workplace. Schedule includes one evening per week and one Saturday per month or so in rotation. The current starting salary for the Librarian 1 position is $60,757.

An MLS/MLIS from an ALA accredited institution and a New Jersey Librarian’s Certification are required for placement as Librarian.
