37 hours per two week pay period

Monday, Wednesday, Thursday: 3:45pm – 9:15pm

Every other Saturday: 9:45 am – 5:15 pm

$15.46 / hour

The Louis Bay 2nd library seeks a friendly, customer service oriented individual to work at the Adult Circulation Desk with paging responsibilities.

Duties:

  • Circulation Desk duties include:
    • Actively following all library policies and explaining them clearly to patrons
    • All aspects of patron account maintenance: including, but not limited to: creating, modifying, renewing accounts
    • Charging and discharging library materials
    • Collecting fines and fees
    • Emptying the book drop
    • Answering questions both in person and over the telephone
    • Assisting patrons with making photocopies
    • Processing hold requests, both in-house, and those for BCCLS member libraries
    • Releasing print jobs queued up via the public print management system
    • Opening/Closing procedures for the building
  • Paging duties include:
    • Shelving materials, shelf reading, retrieving requested materials from a printed list
    • Ensure consistently tidy facilities; includes ensuring chairs are pushed in, newspapers are organized, shelves are neat, materials are displayed in special book stands, tables are clean, recycling is set out when necessary, etc.
    • Working with written or verbal instructions, prepare meeting rooms for use for outside our in-house programs
  • Other duties as may be assigned by Supervisor or Director

Requirements:

  • Well organized, punctual, dependable
  • Must be comfortable with computers; previous BCCLS experience a plus
  • Must be physically able to move large tables and chairs on a daily basis
  • Must be able to push a book cart of up to 100 lbs., bend/stretch to reach bottom/top shelf space, and navigate stairs while carrying up to 25 lbs.
