EQUITY, DIVERSITY, INCLUSION (EDI)

At LibraryLinkNJ, we have made a long-term commitment to promoting equity, diversity, and inclusion (EDI) as part of our strategic plan. We believe that creating a more equitable and inclusive society requires sustained effort and a clear vision, and as such, we are working toward integrating EDI principles into every aspect of our work. Our strategic plan outlines specific goals and strategies for promoting EDI, and we regularly evaluate our progress and adjust our approach as needed. We are dedicated to making lasting change, and we believe that by prioritizing EDI in our strategic planning, we can make a meaningful impact in the lives of the people we serve.

LibraryLinkNJ is committed to supporting EDI values among New Jersey libraries and the communities they serve. We strive to:

  • Provide resources, training, and support to libraries in order to help them create more inclusive and welcoming spaces for all members of their communities.
  • Offer programs and workshops aimed at helping libraries build their capacity to serve diverse communities.
  • Connect libraries with resources and best practices with regard to cultural competency, accessibility, and inclusivity.
  • Create spaces where library staff can share their experiences, learn from each other, engage in valuable discussion, and collaborate on strategies for promoting these values in their libraries.
  • Uphold the principles of intellectual freedom as an essential component of equity, diversity, and inclusion, with the understanding that access to information and ideas helps to create a society where all voices are valued.

We invite all libraries in the state of New Jersey to join us in this important work, and to help us create a more inclusive and just society for all.
