Are you a people person and enjoy working with the public?

The Morristown & Morris Township Library is seeking a friendly, customer service-oriented person to join our creative and dedicated staff as Bookmobile Driver and Outreach Coordinator. The person in this position runs our bookmobile program for children: driving the bookmobile to community stops, circulating material from the bookmobile collection and conducting story times and activities with children.  The person in this position visits schools to sign up children with library cards and orders and processes new bookmobile collection material and supplies. The position also involves community outreach with organized events including special school visits, Halloween Trunk or Treating, the Morris County St. Patrick’s Day Parade, Diversity Day, the Hope Festival, and Fall Festival on the Green.  There is also opportunity to work with children inside the Library, as this position provides help and staffing in the Children’s Room, including checking in/out materials, shelving materials and working with the Department staff on crafts and programming.   The person in this position also assists the Assistant Director in planning and implementing the seasonal bookmobile route schedules, planning and implementing bookmobile activities and attendance at outreach programs, and planning and scheduling vehicle service and maintenance.

Are you creative and have good ideas?

New ideas are always welcome in the Library and this position has lots of opportunity for creativity with program creation, exciting bookmobile events and arts and crafts and more. Previous staff have developed storywalks in public parks, worked with our ‘Little Free Libraries’ in Morristown and Morris Township, decorated the bookmobile with seasonal themes, or have created in-person or take-home crafts for children.  The person in this position will also help to develop themes and programming for area events which can include craft development, purchase of prizes and other activities.  We like a person who can work independently, but also work as a part of a great team here at the Library.
