Newsreel Live Demo

Newsreel Live Demo with Founder Jack Brewster

Helping the Next Generation Build a Healthier Relationship With the News

Social media feeds are increasingly dominated by outrage, misinformation, and AI-generated “slop.” In this environment, libraries play a crucial role in helping communities navigate information safely.

Join Jack Brewster, award-winning journalist and founder of Newsreel, for a live demo of the interactive news app built to fight back — giving young adults and lifelong learners a healthier, more engaging way to understand the world.

With swipeable story stacks, quizzes, and polls — all written and vetted by trained journalists — Newsreel helps users develop a daily news habit that’s informative, not overwhelming.

This session will include:

  • A live walkthrough of Newsreel’s platform and experience
  • Examples of how libraries and schools use Newsreel to teach media literacy and healthy phone habits
  • Details on LibraryLinkNJ’s exclusive 25% member discount for public, school, and academic libraries across New Jersey
  • A short Q&A on bringing Newsreel to your community

The event will be recorded and shared with LibraryLinkNJ members who cannot attend live.

Presenter: Jack Brewster, CEO & Founder of Newsreel, former journalist at Forbes and NewsGuard, and Fulbright researcher focused on how digital media design impacts attention and information consumption.

Length: 45 minutes (including Q&A)

Audience: K–12 and public librarians, educators, and media literacy advocates
