Library Assistant - Collections and Acquisitions
Part-time: $19.91/hr.
Reports To: Managing Librarian - Collections and Acquisitions
General Statement of Duties: Assists in the processing and cataloging of Library materials.
Responsibilities of this position include but are not limited to the following:
- Assists in implementing the goals and objectives of the Collection and Acquisitions Department and the Old Bridge Public library.
- Maintains an appropriate professional appearance in dress and manner at all times.
- Performs other job-related tasks as assigned.
- Opens and sorts arriving library materials.
- Checks in, sorts, prepares and shelves periodical publications.
- Processes new materials and repairs damaged materials for use by the public.
- May shelve library materials and keep shelves in order.
- Handles routine acquisition problems.
- Works with other staff members to assist with collection development tasks.
- Participates in continuing education workshops and other activities for the staff.
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Must be organized, detail-oriented, work accurately and work with minimal supervision.
- Excellent problem-solving, interpersonal and communication skills.
- English language fluency in written and spoken form.
- Ability to understand oral and written instructions.
- Some knowledge of office procedures, computers and MS Office.
- Must be able to lift, carry and bend.
