About Me

Hi, I'm Jennifer Breuer, Regional Director for the Holston River Regional Library, located in Johnson City.  I have worked in public libraries since I was in high school. I earned my MLS from Rutgers University in 2005, and have experience as a youth services librarian, assistant director, and was a library director for 11-years in New Jersey (some of our colleagues from NJ probably know me!) and was very active in the NJ Library Association, and the Northern NJ 77-member library consortium, Bergen County Library System (BCCLS) where I was chair of the policies and procedures committee for 7-years, Vice President of the organization for 3, and served on various committees including personnel, technology, administration, advocacy, and collection development.  As director, I led a team of 5 full-time and 14 part-time staff who served a population of 7,500, with an annual circulation of over one-hundred thousand; annual visitors of 80,000; and programming attendance of 11,000+. In 2019, the library was named NJ's Favorite Library.

In 2021, my family and I moved to East Tennessee, where I joined the Tennessee State Library & Archives as a Regional Director. My new role provides me the ability to consult on a variety of library issues, needs, and trends. I am pleased to share my experience and knowledge from my time in New Jersey with directors, trustees, and the greater library community of Tennessee.  I am pleased to be back on the MentorLib platform.
