Teen and Youth Services Librarian Mercer County Library System NJ - County MERCER Areas of Expertise Youth Services Teen Programming Teen Collection Development & Management Children's Collections Storytime School Library Service Types of Libraries I have worked in Public School About Me Finding ways to nurture creative expression, peer support, and healthy fun in social settings are my top priorities in Teen Services. My goal for West Windsor's brand new Teen Space in 2024 is to plan programs and design interactive elements that draw teens in and give them a place where they can relax, hang out, be inspired, and be themselves. And then, there's something I call "book glow", it's the way someone's face lights up when you put exactly the right book in their hands. (Best feeling in the world!!!) I adore YA audiobooks narrated by incredible voice actors. The audio format allows me to read a much greater volume of material as I aim for a balanced book diet across genres and authors from diverse backgrounds and life experiences. I'm so happy that my profession centers on providing collections, programs, and opportunities for families, children of all ages, and teen volunteers. I completed the Rutgers Master of Information Program one class per semester from 2019-2023, and attained certification as a School Library Media specialist. But I love public libraries most of all, and I am so grateful to be part of a Youth Services department that works well together as a team. Participating in professional development, networking, and continuing education from LibraryLinkNJ, MentorNJ, and NJLA is nourishing, and I'm grateful for the generosity and care in these organizations and in our profession. Being in the company of librarians almost inevitably leads to problem-solving and discovery. I currently serve as a member of the NJLA Professional Development committee, and actively participate in the Young Adult Services Section.
