Winter Virtual Author Event: Lan Samantha Chang, Laura Warrell, and Jenny Tinghui Zhang

Join us this winter as we hear from award-winning authors about their books, inspirations, writing process, and more. Participating authors include:

  • Lan Samantha Chang is a writer of novels and short stories. Her most recent novel, The Family Chao, was published by W. W. Norton in February 2022. She is the author of two previous novels, All Is Forgotten, Nothing Is Lost and Inheritance, and a story collection, Hunger. Chang is the director of the University of Iowa Writers' Workshop. She lives with her husband and daughter in Iowa City, Iowa.
  • Laura Warrell is a graduate of the Creative Writing Program at the Vermont College of Fine Arts. Her debut novel Sweet, Soft, Plenty Rhythm was published by Pantheon in September 2022, and was longlisted for the 2023 Andrew Carnegie Medals for Excellence in Fiction. Warrell currently writes and teaches in Los Angeles.
  • Jenny Tinghui Zhang is a Chinese-American writer from Austin and author of Four Treasures of the Sky, which was published by Flatiron Books in April 2022, and was longlisted for the 2023 Andrew Carnegie Medals for Excellence in Fiction. She is a graduate of the VONA/Voices and Tin House workshops, and holds an MFA from the University of Wyoming. She is currently at work on her second novel.
