LLNJ Skill Sharing Conversation

Topic: Skill-Sharing Conversation: Collection Development: Tips & Tricks

Collection development—the process of acquiring, maintaining, and managing materials for a library’s collection—is important in supporting the mission of the library and is critical for patron engagement. Making strategic decisions about what materials to add to the collection, based on the library’s mission, user needs, and available resources is the basis for a great collection. That said, collection development can be overwhelming, especially when you're unsure where to start.

Are you interested in learning more about collection development, including best practices? Join us as we share advice we've learned along the way. Feel free to learn from library colleagues across the state as we share our ideas for collection development, both fiction and nonfiction.

This is the first session in a two-part series; the next session will discuss collection maintenance and weeding. Join us for either or both session. All are welcome!

Moderator: Mary Martin, Director, Wanaque Public Library

Date & Time: Wednesday, May 7, 2-3PM

Location: Online via Zoom
