Mary Beth Weber is Head of Central Technical Services (CTS), a unit that includes acquisitions and resource description (MARC and non-MARC metadata) at Rutgers University Libraries. She has served in various capacities in the Rutgers University Libraries, including as the Head of Cataloging and Metadata Services, and as the Special Formats Catalog Librarian. Weber chaired the Libraries’ Mentoring Task Force, which resulted in the creation of a mentoring program for library faculty.

Weber is active in ALCTS (the Association for Library Collections and Technical Services), a division of the American Library Association. She has chaired various task forces and groups within the division, including the ALCTS Advocacy Task Force, and the Copy Cataloging Discussion Group. She is the editor of Library Resources and Technical Services (LRTS), ALCTS’ official scholarly journal. Weber also served for six years as the editor of the ALCTS Newsletter Online (now ALCTS News).

In addition to serving as an editor and active participation in ALCTS, Weber has also authored a number of books, including Rethinking Library Technical Services: Redefining our Profession for the Future, which was published in April 2015.
