LibraryLinkNJ Executive Director Updates

[ Posted on May 3, 2021 ]

Dear LibraryLinkNJ Members,

As we move ahead through the process for a new Executive Director, the Search Committee is pleased that LibraryLinkNJ has continued operations without disruption thanks to Interim Director Keith McCoy at the helm and the work of our dedicated staff and Executive Board.

We are proud to share that with the assistance of Bradbury Miller Associates we have recruited and reviewed 20 impressive applicants for the next leader of LLNJ. A round of semi-final interviews was conducted this week with our most promising applicants. Three finalists have risen to the top and will be completing another round of interviews in mid-May. The Executive Board will hold a special meeting, in closed session, on May 4th to review the finalists. We are on track to name a new Director by the end of May.

Thank you for your continued patience and support and to the Search Committee for their time and efforts. We look forward to sharing more news soon.

Dear LibraryLinkNJ Members,

As you know, Susanne Sacchetti has resigned her position as Executive Director as she and her family relocate out of state. Susanne’s last day with LibraryLinkNJ will be next Friday March 26, 2021. We wish her well on her new adventure in Ohio.

At yesterday’s executive Board meeting a contract was enacted with Pro Libra, New Jersey’s premier staffing agency for library personnel, to have Keith McCoy, MLIS serve as the Interim Executive Director.

Keith is retired as the Assistant Director/Director of Public Services of the Somerset County Library System and has spent much of the last year as the Interim Director at the Edison Public Library. He has over 35+ years of experience in various New Jersey libraries. We are excited to welcome him onboard at this time.

Keith will have a full day orientation with Susanne next week and will be serving as a part-time, 20 hour per week Interim Executive Director starting April 12. Keith will oversee the administrative day to day operations and keep LibraryLinkNJ moving onward and upward. Former Interim Executive Director Juliet Machie, now Executive Director of the New Jersey Library Association, will also be available to Keith in a small consulting role during this time of transition.

The Executive Board has also authorized Bradbury Miller Associates to begin the search process for the Executive Director position under their guarantee as stated in our 2020 agreement. Bradbury Miller Associates has existed since 1983 as an executive search firm dedicated exclusively to helping libraries and library organizations find leaders. They most recently conducted the search for the new NJ State Librarian.

The Executive Director job announcement is available on the Bradbury Miller Associates website and the firm will begin advertising and recruiting for the position this week. The closing date for applications is April 11, 2021 and we hope to have a new Executive Director in place by mid-June. You can view the announcement at:
https://www.bradburymiller.com/LibraryLinkNJad2021.htm

Our initial Search Committee work with Bradbury Miller includes Board President Bonnie Lafazan, Berkely College, members of the Personnel Committee (Chris Carbone, South Brunswick; Jennifer Podolski, Princeton; Jennie Pu, Hudson County Community College; Phillip Berg, Morris Automated Information Network and Corey Fleming, Paterson) and a representative from New Jersey State Library. Once the Committee develops a firm search schedule with key dates, the schedule will be shared with the membership. If you have colleagues to recommend for the position, please direct them to Jobeth Bradbury, jobethbradbury [at] bradburymiller.com (Email).

The Board will provide regular updates throughout the process. We know that with Keith, Juliet’s assistance, our excellent staff and dedicated Board LibraryLinkNJ is in good hands during this transition period.

Thank you for your continued support and best wishes for a safe, healthy and happy Spring.
