AI Ambassadors

LibraryLinkNJ and LibraryLinkNJ Technology Advisory Group (L-TAG) are pleased to announce this special AI training series for library technology staff in New Jersey!

Requirements for Participation:

  • Participants registering for the AI Ambassadors Series are committing to attend all of the following training sessions:
    • Three Virtual Sessions:
      • Thursdays, October 19, October 26, and November 2, 2023
      • 1:30pm - 4:00pm (1.5 hours instruction followed by 1 hour open lab)
    • One In-Person Session:
      • Nov. 16, 2023, 10am-4pm (Refreshments and Lunch will be provided)

  • After completing the training sessions, participants will
    • Join the NJ Libraries AI Interest Group
    • Be encouraged to join a nationwide interest group focused on AI topics, managed by the Galecia Group. This will help the NJ Libraries AI Interest Group stay up to date on the latest developments
    • Provide at least one AI training session for library staff in their local area, and/or participate in a group presentation at a library event or conference by the end of June 2024

Session 1: AI Foundations for Library Technologists
Thursday, October 19, 2023

Synopsis: An immersive session diving into the history, principles, and societal impacts of AI. A primer to ensure all participants have a consistent foundation of knowledge.

Learning Objectives:

  • Understand fundamental AI concepts and technologies.
  • Recognize the broader implications of AI on society, education, and the workforce.

Synopsis: Dive deep into the world's leading AI tools, contrasting them with our in-house offerings. This workshop provides a blend of content delivery and hands-on exploration.

Learning Objectives:

  • Familiarize with top AI LLM and Image Generation providers.
  • Understand the strengths, features, and application scenarios for each tool.
  • Engage in hands-on experimentation with select AI tools.

  • AI Mad Libs (Engagement Activity)
  • Overview of Big 3 AI LLM Providers: ChatGPT, Claude, and Bard
  • Overview of Big 3 AI Image Generation Providers: Dall-E 2, Stable Diffusion, and Midjourney
  • Discuss Open Source AI Models
  • Distinguishing Features of our In-house AI Training Platform
