Adult Services Coordinator (full time) - Monroe Township Public Library

The Monroe Township Public Library is a vibrant, well-used facility providing a high level of service to all community residents. A highly dedicated, skilled staff enables the Library to provide a level of personalized service that is unavailable at many other libraries of comparable size. The Monroe Township Library is seeking a dynamic and creative individual for Adult Services Coordinator. The successful candidate will be responsible for the management of adult services including patron/visitor service, Reference/Welcome service, and Circulation service. The Coordinator of Adult Services will coordinate with other Library staff to provide a robust schedule of programs, events, and classes for Library patrons and the community of Monroe Township. As a part of the Library management team, this person will participate in planning, policy development and special projects.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise, schedule, train and evaluate professional and paraprofessional staff working in the areas of Reference and Welcome.
  • Prepare statistics, reports, and grants related to Adult Services.
  • Staff service desks as needed.
  • Provide reference and reader's advisory guidance to patrons.
  • Participate in developing and maintaining the adult collection.
  • Develop, coordinate, schedule, promote and conduct a variety of adult programming which address community interests and educational needs.
  • Regularly monitor adult programming initiatives, programs and services; evaluate impact, and provide analysis and advice that contributes to the ongoing development of adult programming.
  • Manage available program and or project resources, develop budgets, track spending and provide reports as needed.
  • Facilitate meetings of the inter-departmental Program Team to assist in the development of strategic goals and library-wide programming.
  • Maintain existing and develop new relationships with community groups, arts organizations and professional library groups.
  • Participate in professional library organizations to remain informed on trends in library services and attends continuing education workshops and conferences.

    Qualifications

  • A Master’s degree in Library Science from an ALA accredited program.
  • Public Library experience.
  • Minimum 3 years management experience including supervising, leading and delegating tasks and authority.
  • Strong customer service skills.
  • History of successful project management.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Must be 18 years of age or older and reside in New Jersey unless otherwise exempted by law. Successful candidate will be required to pass a pre-employment drug screen, physical, background / reference check and motor vehicle record check.

Hours for this position are Monday - Friday 9am-5pm. This position may require night and weekend hours.

Starting Salary: $75,000
