The Burlington County Library System (BCLS) consists of 15 locations and both a Mobile Library and a Mobile Learning Lab that travel to dozens of community touchpoints throughout the largest county in the state. DESCRIPTION
The Burlington County Library System seeks a dynamic, enthusiastic librarian to join its Adult Services team to provide assistance, connect library users to resources and information as well as host programs and learning and training opportunities for library customers. The Information Resources Librarian will be responsible for ensuring the community is aware of and connecting to our broad range of online and print resources in order to locate, evaluate and effectively use information. Some examples of duties include:
- Provide outstanding customer service, reference, and readers’ advisory; demonstrate knowledge of print and online resources.
- Promote and demystify library databases, online learning tools and platforms as well as general informational and research resources.
- Design and implement creative programming and online guides to connect the community to information resources.
- Prepare curated reading lists, relevant subject bibliographies and/or merchandising displays to promote on-site and online engagement with the library’s collection.
- Assist with collection maintenance tasks, including evaluating materials and collection development.
- Assist with special projects that support the library’s mission.
- Participate in professional conferences, seminars, and committees; read professional literature; attend and participate in staff meetings.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
REQUIREMENTS
A master's degree in library or information science in a library program accredited by the American Library Association or from a New Jersey Master’s program in Library Science that has been deemed acceptable by Thomas Edison State College. Obtain a valid NJ license as a Professional Librarian within six (6) months of appointment.
- Ability to manage deadlines, organize and prioritize work independently.
SCHEDULE
Full time, 37.5 hours; evenings and weekends. Flexibility a must for outreach events. Four Sundays a year.
