Job Overview: We are a vibrant suburban library with an enthusiastic public, deeply engaged in our community. We are seeking an energetic and innovative individual to enhance our youth services programs and strengthen our community presence. This position reports directly to the library director.
Key Responsibilities:
- Maintain juvenile and young adult material collections, including selection, weeding, and cataloging
- Design and deliver programs and services for children and teens (birth to grade 12)
- Manage the allotted youth services book and program budgets responsibly
- Provide reference services to children and teens, as well as adult reference when required
- Compile monthly statistics for youth services activities
- Plan, organize, and lead the annual Summer Reading program
- Conduct outreach and build partnerships with schools, recreation department, and other community organizations
- In the absence of the library director, act as the point person/director
- Attend professional meetings and workshops to stay current on best practices
- Prepare and update children's room publicity, library website content, and social media posts
- Create seasonal displays and decorations to make the Children’s Room welcoming
- Assist staff at circulation desk as needed
- Perform other duties as required
Qualifications:
- 1–3 years of library experience, preferably in a public library setting.
- Master’s Degree in Library and Information Science from an ALA-accredited program, or current MLIS student with 12 credits or more.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends.
Salary Range: $60,000-$64,000, based on experience and qualifications.
