Job Description:

The RVCC Library is currently accepting applications for a Systems & Technical Services Librarian. The Systems & Technical Services Librarian is responsible for implementing, maintaining, and training staff in the use of the library management system (OCLC WMS). Provides reference services to library patrons within the library, over the phone, and using the library's email and chat service. Teaches information literacy sessions for the IL program and for liaison departments. Acts as liaison to academic departments, and serves on library and college committees. Provides guidance to staff in the library's Technical Services department regarding cataloging procedures and use of the library's ILS system. Oversees the college archives. Some evening and weekend hours may be required.
Essential Duties:
- Maintain and oversee the library management system (OCLC's WMS).
- Serve as liaison to the library management system vendor to address any issues or updates to the library ILS system.
- Participate in the Library's Instruction and Reference Program.
- Generate and analyze reports using the library management system, to assess collection usage.
- Work closely with the Electronic Resources & Web Services Librarian to maintain library technologies, for example, authentication, server, and various system configurations.
- Serve as liaison to academic departments.
- Knowledge of cataloging principles, including MARC and RDA, and ability to catalog original materials.
- Provide guidance regarding cataloging procedures and use of the library ILS to staff in the library Technical Services Department.
- Oversee college archives, including digitization of appropriate materials and creating finding aids.
- Represent the Library on academic and college-wide committees.
- Eligible to serve in the rotating position of Library Chair.
Requirements:
- M.L.S. degree or equivalent from a graduate school of library science accredited by the American Library Association.
- Prior Teaching experience.
- Experience in Systems Librarianship and/or Technical Services.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Knowledge of OCLC systems, including WMS library management system.
- Experience conducting information literacy instruction sessions, preferably at the college level.
- Experience providing reference service to library users, preferably at the college level.
- Experience using technology in the delivery of course content.
- Prior Community College teaching experience.
