Leading from the Middle

Leaders in the middle face a unique set of circumstances -- you are responsible for carrying forward the key goals of upper management as well as the goals and needs of staff you directly supervise. In this session, we will identify which key skills are helpful to hone as a middle manager, possible pitfalls to avoid, and techniques on how to find points of cooperation in difficult situations.

Learning Objective 1: At the end of this session, participants will learn techniques on how to negotiate the needs of staff they supervise with those of high level administrative goals.
Learning Objective 2: At the end of this session, participants will learn about what key skills are most useful for middle managers and how to utilize them in everyday situations.
Learning Objective 3: At the end of this session, participants will learn techniques on how to effectively communicate between various communication styles and diverse populations.
