Alyssa Valenti

I am the electronic resources and web services librarian at Raritan Valley Community College in Branchburg, NJ. I completed my Bachelor's degree in music with a concentration on vocal studies at Slippery Rock University of Pennsylvania, my Master of Library and Information Science degree from The Catholic University of American in Washington D.C. and a Master of Science degree in information and communication technology with a specialty in web design & development from the University of Denver. 

My professional interests are library website usability, website design, web development, electronic resources and databases, and information literacy and student success. I've published articles about usability testing, embedded librarianship, and students use of keywords, and continue to find that these topics drive my lesson planning for library instruction. RVCC has a small library staff as a community college, and I find that I'm more a jack of all trades here. I also sit at the reference desk, clear paper jams, plug in network cables, and perform my professional library liaison responsibilites! Currently, I liaise with nursing & allied health and math & computer science.

I live in Clinton, NJ with my husband, two children, and black lab who doesn't like water. We keep very busy running around doing stuff with the kids like baseball and cheerleading. In my free time, I enjoy working out, reading, organizing my home, and spending time with my extended family.
