About Me

I am currently the Head of Youth Services at Gloucester County Library System in Mullica Hill, NJ.  I have am a graduate of Drexel University and have been a librarian for 7 years.  All 7 years have been in a public library, 2 years at Ocean City Free Public Library, and 5 at GCLS which gives me the understanding of both the municipal library challenges as well as the county system challenges.  Before becoming a librarian I worked as a Senior Library Assistant at Richard Stockton College of NJ for 7 years in both Periodicals and Circulation, and 7 years before that at Rowan University as a Library Assistant in Circulation.

I am a current member of ALA and NJLA and active in both.  I feel my strengths are my passions which are Youth Services with focus on Young Adult, and Diversity.   I love my teens and advocate for their space and rights even when it isn't the most popular stance.  I have been a supervisor for the past 3 years, so I have the understanding of how hard it is to go from co-worker to supervisor.

The shock of working in a library after getting your MLIS can sometimes be overwhelming.  Did I not register for the storytime classes, the class on how to deal with shrinking budgets, or the one where I have to do multiple jobs at one time?  Having a mentor to talk to really helped me, and in turn I hope that I can also help someone.
