About Me

I have worked in libraries for over 20 years in many different capacities starting as a shelver with the Mercer County (NJ) libraries back when I was in high school to working in reference and youth services departments with the Brevard County (FL) libraries where I spent over six years as the Head of Youth Services for the Franklin T DeGroodt Memorial Library. I now work as the Training Coordinator for the Southern Maryland Regional Library Association and as a lecturer with San Jose State University's iSchool specializing in STEM in Libraries. I have a duel Bachelors in English and Education (emphasis on Secondary Education) from Monmouth University, a Masters in Library and information Studies (concentrating on Leadership and Youth Services) from Florida State University and am currently a doctoral candidate in Drexel University's Educational Leadership and Management program with a concentration on Creativity and Innovation. I am very interested in the future of libraries, positive psychology, creativity, and geeking out over Marvel movies, dogs, social media, and fantasy/YA/historical romances. Follow me on Twitter @jhopwood80.
