There is no greater profession than that of a New Jersey librarian. Most assuredly, I would not have the honor of doing what I absolutely love to do each day without the support and guidance of my own mentors. Therefore, I'm extremely appreciative for the opportunity to pay it forward.
Once a teenage mother that dropped out of high school, I ran a non-profit for at risk youth for over nine years to help break the cycles of poverty that plagued our community. With the support and guidance of dynamic and enthuastic mentors both in my library and throughout the state, I graduated with a MLIS from Rutgers University in 2010.
Professionally, libraries interest me and serving my community inspirits me. I’m an enthusiastic manager, leader and strategist (library director) responsible for creating and supervising an array of new services, programs and policies at the Long Branch Public Library including a new teen services department, adult literacy classes, and job search/career services including the Fresh Start Reentry program. In 2013, I was promoted to director and have since focused on admistrative duties, community building, advocacy and staff empowerment
Congratulations on choosing one of the most profound and rewarding careers in the world! I look forward to working with you.
