LLNJ Skill Sharing Conversation

Topic: Skill-Sharing Conversation: Developing Comic Book & Graphic Novel Collections

Graphic novels continue to be one of the fastest growing categories in publishing and bookselling, and today’s YA graphic novels are far more sophisticated and varied in content than the comics that preceded them.

While they continue to be popular, it can be difficult to know how to catalog them due to the overwhelming number of series, reboots, republishing, changing authors and artists, and more. Having a solid grasp of common terminology, pitfalls, and publishing trends can help library staff approach graphic novel collection development with confidence and success.

Join us as we share advice and ideas for best practices for developing, organizing, and maintaining a graphic novel collection, with a focus on YA collections, but with advice for children’s and adult collections as well. Come ready to share with and learn from your library colleagues across the state as we share ideas and advice. All are welcome!
