Event Description

This series of training workshops in supervisory skills has been serving the New Jersey library community for more than 20 years.

New and novice supervisors in New Jersey libraries are invited to join us for this 4-part, in-person series designed to help build supervisory skills and navigate the tasks library management must tackle.

    • Strategic Planning for Libraries: The Basics & Beyond
  • Tuesday, November 10th, 10AM - 3PM
    • Open & Honest Communication in the Workplace
    • Building Relationships & Resolving Staff Conflict
  • Tuesday, November 17th, 10AM - 3PM
    • Giving & Receiving Feedback
    • Knowing Your Strengths
  • Tuesday, December 8th, 10AM - 3PM
    • HR Basics Every Supervisor Should Know
    • Personnel Documentation & Evaluation

All sessions will be held in-person in the conference room at the New Jersey State Library Talking Book & Braille Center in Trenton. 

Target Audience:

  • Library staff who are currently supervisors and have less than five years of supervisory experience.
  • Participants must be actively working as a supervisor at the time the series begins.
  • More experienced supervisors are welcome, if this is their first supervisory training.

Registration Information

  • This is a series of 4 workshops. Participants are required to attend all 4 workshops and will be asked to confirm that they have the support of their employer before completing the registration process.
  • Space is limited to 35 participants. 
  • Registration opens at 9:00 AM on Monday, July 27, 2026 and closes on Monday, August 24, 2026. 
  • If the registration numbers exceed capacity, 35 participants will be chosen via a lottery system.

Cost: $375, inclusive of all available course materials.

  • Invoices will be emailed to all confirmed registrants following the close of the registration period.

Cancellation Policy: You may cancel up to ten 10 business days before a scheduled class/event without penalty and receive a credit for another class or a full refund. If you cancel less than ten days before, you are responsible for payment. The only exception is if LibraryLinkNJ cancels the class/event.

LibraryLinkNJ reserves the right to cancel any class/event that is less than 60% full within 7 business days of the class. If LibraryLinkNJ cancels a class, you will receive a credit toward another class or a full refund.

In the event of a class cancellation, we will make every attempt to notify you directly at least 48 hours in advance. You may also call LibraryLinkNJ at 732-752-7720 after 7AM on the day of the class.

  • Register now to secure your place in the lottery; aspiring attendees are not fully registered until they receive confirmation from a LibraryLinkNJ team member following the close of the registration period..
