History of Medicine Processing Archivist, (24 month, non-renewable), George F. Smith Library of the Health Sciences, Rutgers University Libraries

SUMMARY: Rutgers University Libraries (RUL) sees an innovative and service-oriented History of Medicine (HoM) Processing Archivist at George F. Smith Library at Rutgers Health -Newark. This individual will take a leadership role in the arrangement and description of HoM’s holdings, migrate legacy finding aids into the Rutgers Libraries’ ArchivesSpace repository, establish a comprehensive collection management infrastructure, and support the information and research needs of library users. 

This position will attain intellectual and physical control of the History of Medicine collection. This position will be responsible for developing and implementing plans to acquire, arrange, process, describe, and provide access to archival materials in analog and digital forms, in consultation with the Smith Library, and Special Collections and University Archives faculty librarians/archivists.

This position reports to the Director of Special Collections and University Archives, in New Brunswick, but works on location at Smith Library and collaborates with Health Sciences Libraries faculty and staff. The HoM archivist is a member of the Libraries Faculty, a team of librarians committed to providing first-rate public services to a diverse academic community.
