Moorestown Library - FT Teen and Tech Librarian

The Moorestown Public Library is seeking a dynamic librarian to join its Youth Services team. The ideal candidate will be customer service oriented, have outstanding communication skills, have experience designing and implementing teen programming, and possess the ability to answer a variety of reference and reader’s advisory questions with enthusiasm. Familiarity with Canva, Constant Contact, Signup Genius, and WordPress are a plus, but not required.

Duties include:

  • Providing reference, reader’s advisory, and computer assistance to children, teens, young adults, and adults
  • Collection development, maintenance, weeding, and booklist creation for young adult books
  • Collection development, maintenance, and weeding for children’s AV materials
  • Managing an established Teen Advisory Board (TAB) to assist teens with developing, promoting, and implementing their programming ideas
  • Supervising the TAB’s monthly Anime Club
  • Managing an active teen volunteer program and developing and implementing new volunteering opportunities to engage teens in grades 6-12
  • Developing and implementing children’s STEM programming, including coding classes using Fiero Code and Scratch
  • Working with the Adult Services Department to plan and implement NJ Makers Day programming
  • Assisting with the planning and implementation of summer reading
  • Promoting the department’s children’s and teen programming through the creation of flyers, email blasts, library calendar entries, and in-house ads
  • Making updates to the children’s and teen web pages
  • Maintaining an inviting atmosphere in the Young Adult Room, including creating displays, signage, and décor
  • Attending and participating in staff meeting discussions
  • Identifying grant opportunities, preparing grant applications, and implementing grant-based programming as appropriate
  • Other duties as assigned

Hours: 35 hours per week including one evening per week and one weekend day per month.

Required qualifications: Master’s Degree in Library Science from an ALA-accredited program. Students nearing completion of their degree are encouraged to apply.

Salary range: $57,000-$64,000 for Librarian 1, depending on experience.

Employment is contingent on passing a pre-employment physical and a criminal background check, including fingerprinting.

The position requires residency in the State of New Jersey. If the successful applicant is not a New Jersey resident, they must become a bona fide New Jersey resident within one year.
