After an extensive search, LibraryLinkNJ is pleased to announce the appointment of its next Executive Director, Susanne Sacchetti. Born and raised in Atlantic County, New Jersey, Susanne Sacchetti brings to LibraryLinkNJ her extensive experience in both the education and library professions. Receiving her Masters in Library and Information Science from Drexel University in 2005, she first began her graduate studies at Rowan University, in School and Public Librarianship. She has worked in a variety of library settings, including elementary school, academic and public libraries, in both virtual and physical environments. Susanne first entered the library profession in 2002, as an Associate Educational Media Specialist. Susanne brings with her experience at the college-level, as a Library Specialist and then Reference Librarian, at the Atlantic Cape Community College, and briefly as an Online Librarian for the American Public University System. She has also taught graduate-level library science courses, as an Online Adjunct Instructor, for Drexel University's iSchool. |
Prior to becoming the Director of the Cumberland County Library in 2017, she began her career in library administration as the Director of the Deptford Free Public Library in 2012. In her time as a Library Director, she has had two partnerships that have resulted in the businesses receiving Library Champion Awards, from the New Jersey Library Association—including a partnership with the Deptford Mall and LEGOLAND Discovery Center Philadelphia.
Susanne is a long-standing member of the New Jersey Library Association and recent member of its Executive Board, as well as the former President of the LOGIN consortium. She has served on the New Jersey State Library’s Library Network Review Board for three years, with one year as its Chair, and has also served on the State Library’s Database Advisory Committee and its Statewide Services Task Force. She is currently a member of LibraryLinkNJ’s TOPCATS Task Force and was a member of its Advocacy Task Force.
Susanne is expected to assume the role of Executive Director in early August, previously held by Kathy Shalke-Green who retired in January of 2020 after leading the organization for four years. The LibraryLinkNJ executive board would like to extend thanks to Interim Executive Director, Dr. Juliet Machie, of Virginia, who was brought in to maintain operations during the search for a new Executive Director. Juliet’s professionalism, hard work and dedication to LibraryLinkNJ enabled us to provide a continuity of service to the library community under unexpected circumstances.
Susanne looks forward to bringing her knowledge, skills and experience to LibraryLinkNJ and working with the Executive Board to forward the organization. She is excited to expand upon LibraryLinkNJ’s mission of connecting New Jersey libraries to each other and the resources they need to serve their communities. She will work alongside Dr. Machie for several weeks to facilitate the transition of leadership.
