Drupal Webinar Series Using the Sample Site for Libraries (3 Weeks)
Event Description
Drupal Webinar Series Using the Sample Site for Libraries (3 Weeks) - February 2013
This three-week series uses the sample site that has been developed specifically for libraries during the Spring 2012 Drupal Series. Participating libraries will receive a sample site at no cost. Staff will participate in free webinars to help them to modify/customize the sample site for their own library.
Background:
LibraryLinkNJ offered the Drupal Library Website Development Workshop Series in Spring 2012. These workshops began in April, 2012, and LibraryLinkNJ continues to provide support for participating libraries as they finish building their Drupal websites.
- 17 public, school, special and academic libraries from all over the state participated.
- Their Drupal websites will all be launched by the end of 2012.
- Key outcomes: the creation of a sample Drupal 7 website that will be used and adapted by other New Jersey libraries to create their websites. Also, webinar recordings, instruction materials and other supporting documents.
- The sample site uses one of the Drupal 7 Responsive Web Design themes. This provides the flexability to set the screen size/display for a variety of devices.
Participating libraries in this new online webinar series will be able to:
- Develop their own version of the sample Drupal site.
- Edit and add content to the site.
- Modify the look and feel of the site.
- Investigate the basics of advanced customization.
Eligibility for Participation:
- LibraryLinkNJ member libraries and library-related agencies that are in good standing are eligible to participate in this workshop series.
- Each participating library will be required to designate a staff member to participate in all of three webinars and must commit to launch their site by Friday, June 28, 2013.
- Only one staff member from each library can participate since the registration is limited to 20 libraries.
- Participating libraries need to meet the system requirements to host a Drupal site. Libraries must commit to use either their own web server, an outsourced web hosting service, or the shared web hosting service provided by LibraryLinkNJ*. Whichever option they choose, they have to meet the system requirements (http://drupal.org/requirements). LibraryLinkNJ will provide a testing server for development sites for participating libraries during the workshop series. Participating libraries must transfer their site at the end of the workshop series, and the instructions on how to move the site will be covered.
- Participating libraries are expected to have the staff, time, resources, and funds to maintain their website in the future.
