I am dean at UT Martin and have been employed in academic libraries and archives for more then 30 years across several states. I am always happy to talk to people about developing a career arc that includes education, professional development, scholarship, and professional service. I have worked in unionized settings and am familiar with systems for tenure and promotion for librarians and archivists. I have experience with leadership, management, strategic planning, outreach, developing collaboration and partnerships (both on- and off-campus), grant writing, grant management, advance and donor relations. I like to share ideas with peer leaders to help expand our knowledge and skills, as much as helping people considering making a move into academic libraries/archives or stepping into management and leadership roles. I have benefited from the support of many mentors throughout my career and look forward to returning the favor to others. I have worked in very large institutions, but enjoy my current position at a university with 7,000 students, 7 faculty librarians, and 12 staff, and 25 student assistants, located in a small town in a rural area of west Tennessee.
