Youth Services Librarian – East Hanover Library
The East Hanover Library is seeking a full time Librarian to lead our Youth Services Department for ages 0-18. We are looking for a dynamic, creative individual with exceptional interpersonal and customer service skills to encourage the love of reading and learning in our community.
35 hours per week. Evening and weekend hours required.
Duties include:
Developing and presenting youth services programming, including storytimes, crafts and book clubs
Providing reference and reader’s advisory
Assisting customers on public computers
Collection development, including purchasing, weeding, maintaining collections
Community outreach to local schools and organizations
Participation in area committees and workshops
Planning and implementing the Children’s Summer Reading programs
Preparing program flyers and PR, Social media
Maintaining program statistics
Qualifications: MLS or MLIS degree and NJ Professional Librarian Certificate; Residency in New Jersey (NJ First Act); knowledge of Koha is desirable. Strong computer skills (Word Press, Microsoft Suite, Google, Canva). Minimum 2 years’ experience in a professional library setting and working with children.
Compensation: Salary is commensurate with experience and aligned with NJLA guidelines.
