Call for Proposals: Navigating Tomorrow: AI, Community, and the Future of NJ Libraries
  • Conference Date: Thursday, May 13, 2027
  • Submission Deadline: Thursday, September 17, 2026
  • Acceptance Notifications: By September 30, 2026

Join us at the inaugural Futures Conference! We are currently seeking proposals for our upcoming one-day conference. We welcome submissions from librarians, informationists, technologists, and library supporters across all sectors. This year, we are focusing on two distinct tracks. Your proposal should address the broader theme of libraries and librarianship through one of these lenses:

  • Track 1: AI & The Future of Work: Navigating emerging technology, automation, advantages, disadvantages, VR/AR, robotics, and how artificial intelligence is reshaping library workflows and professional roles.

  • Track 2: Community & Connection: Evolving social service trends, creating welcoming spaces, fostering a sense of belonging, and balancing high-tech with "unplugged"/analog community experiences (like makerspaces and physical media integration).

Session Format:

  • Breakout Sessions (~45 minutes): Case studies, panel discussions, or interactive presentations.
  • Short Presentations (~15 minutes)

How to Submit:

If you are interested in contributing to the conference, please complete our Call for Proposals form by Thursday, September 17, 2026. You will be asked to provide:

  • A session title and preferred track.
  • A concise session description (max 300 words).
  • 3 key learning takeaways for attendees.

Before submitting, we highly recommend reviewing our Proposal Evaluation Rubric to see exactly what our committee is looking for.

If you would like further guidance on writing a proposal, check out the Conferences 101: Writing Conference Proposals hosted by LibraryLinkNJ on August 4, 2026.
