Descriptions

In 2016, you'll notice that all those familiar trends in literary fiction are still going strong, since our readers like ‘em so much: family secrets, multiple chronologies, famous men (and/or their wives), domestic psychological thrillers, cross-cultural stories, and other popular subgenres. Some of your readers' favorite authors have published books this fall: Ann Patchett, Michael Chabon, Alice Hoffman, Winston Groom (remember Forrest Gump?), and Emma Donoghue to name a few. Since you can’t read them all, join Roz Reisner to get a taste of which ones will be winners for your mainstream and mid-list fiction patrons based on their appeal factors. Share ideas for publisher imprints and small presses to watch, awards to track, and print and online resources for keeping up.

After participating in this webinar, you’ll be able to:

  • Recommend current and forthcoming literary fiction to your Readers’ Advisory patrons;
  • Identify and use print and online resources for staying abreast of new and upcoming titles.
  • Learn which small presses are publishing interesting, award-winning, literary fiction.

This 90-minute webinar will include a 60-minute presentation and 30 minutes for Q&A, as well as an interactive portion about resources and keeping up with new and forthcoming titles.
