  • Bridgeton Public Library recently congratulated the first kids in their community to complete the 1,000 Books Before Kindergarten Challenge!
  • Congratulations to The Ocean County Library, Rutgers University, Camden County College, and Somerset County Library System's North Plainfield Branch on being selected to participate in the National Endowment for the Humanities and the American Library Association's joint grant program, Latino Americans: 500 Years of History. Rutgers will receive $10,000, while the other four winners will receive $3,000 in programming funding.
  • Happy 40th birthday to Bruce Springsteen's "Born To Run"! The Atlantic's article contextualizing this iconic album is a must-read.
  • This is more of an all-around Library Pride thing, but we think you’ll enjoy it. Jenny Lawson, aka The Bloggess, wrote a love letter to our profession, including this gem of a line: "Librarians are how libraries speak. Theirs are the small faces behind a million stories and facts."

  • HUGE ($7,500) grant opportunity from the Association for Library Service to Children (ALSC): Curiosity Creates - apply now for the deadline of September 25. 
  • $5000 grant opportunity for libraries: Autism Welcome Here, from Libraries & Autism: We're Connected. This grant is made in honor of the Scotch Plains Public Library's former director Meg Kolaya.
