Teen Collection Development & Management

Hi! I'm Melaina (they/them). I am a retired veterinary technician turned librarian! I brought my empathy and compassion forward approach to working with animals to throw myself head first into becoming a teen librarian.

Finding ways to nurture creative expression, peer support, and healthy fun in social settings are my top priorities in Teen Services.

I am in my 18th year of being a School Library Media Specialist, my degree is from Seton Hall.  I spend 2 year in a K-5 library and 16 in a 9-12 library.  I do my best to try and reach my students in as many ways as possible.

I have been working with teens in public libraries for over 8 years now.  I've worked in libraries all over New Jersey but have spent most of my time in rural libraries.
