Description of Duties
The Camden County Library System is seeking an Adult Education Coordinator. The successful candidate will be passionate about adult education and working with adult learners. The person in this position will:
- Coordinate in person and virtual classes and programs in the areas of adult literacy (including Basic Literacy and ESL students), technology instruction and digital literacy, job seeking and employment and other life skills and basic life needs
- Compile educational resources and referral resources for assistance beyond the library.
- Coordinate and attend outreach events to increase awareness of library services and resources.
- Coordinate recruitment of tutors and learners for Literacy Volunteers of America—Camden County.
- Identify adult education needs by communicating with residents, partners and community organizations.
- As a member of our Adult Services Roundtable plan, organize and implement adult education classes
- Develop and implement strategic goals and objectives as related to adult education.
- Write grant applications, administer grant funds and write annual and quarterly grant reports for Literacy Volunteers of America-Camden County.
- Supervise three staff members
- May attend meetings at other locations
Requirements: A Master's degree in Library or Information Science in a library program accredited by the American Library Association and two (2) years of FTE professional librarian experience. Prior supervisory experience is a plus. The chosen candidate will be required to obtain a valid Professional Librarian Certificate issued by Thomas Edison State College.
