Adult Services Librarian (Librarian 1) – PT 25 Hours – Main Library – Sussex County Library System

Where is this? The Main Library is the largest of the Sussex County Library System’s six buildings. It is a well-used facility, and it serves as the central hub of the County’s library system. The location in Frankford Township offers ready access to outdoor recreation and Routes 15, 94, and 206. The library system is in a time of change & growth; we’re looking for great people to lead the way.

Who are they looking for? A recent MLS grad or an experienced librarian who is: excited to provide reference & readers advisory assistance, not afraid of technology, eager to participate in a team-based approach to programming for adults, & interested in delighting library patrons. Bright, curious, friendly, organized, service-oriented, eager—if you identify with these descriptors, we’re looking for you!

Why should I apply? Not many public libraries in NJ have the resources, large service area, collection of local history materials, or the friendly, collaborative staff that are the heart of the Sussex County Library System. If you are interested in joining a library system that can offer lots of colleagues with whom to collaborate, learn, & grow--all in a welcoming, collegial environment--this could be just the opportunity for you.

What else do I need to know? Civil Service position (Librarian 1, entry level)—initial appointment provisional pending Civil Service procedure; 25 hours/week, including some nights & Saturdays; $22.45/hour; NJ Professional Librarian Certificate required; valid driver’s license required; public library experience helpful but not required; must reside in, or relocate to, NJ in accordance with state law.

I’m convinced! How do I apply? Resume & three professional references to kfreisinger [at] sussexcountylibrary.org or to Will Porter, Director, Sussex County Main Library, 125 Morris Turnpike, Newton, NJ 07860.  Application deadline: January 9, 2022.
