Full-Time Program & Events Assistant 
Salary range starts at $52,000. Compensation commensurate with education and experience. 
Competitive benefits package includes healthcare, pension, and paid leave.
35 hours/week, including non-traditional hours based on operational needs and to meet the needs of the community.

Love planning, events, and connecting with people of all ages? The Avalon Library & History Center is seeking a creative and organized individual to join its thriving Program and Events department as a full-time assistant. In this role, the successful candidate will contribute to the success of the organization’s programming effort by assisting the Assistant Director for Programs and Engagement and department staff with event planning, coordination, and execution. Primarily focused on events for youth (0-17) and the Avalon History Center, they will also support other events and outreach initiatives as well as supervise facilities to support department needs and as part of a coverage rotation.

What can you expect? The successful candidate will brainstorm and develop program ideas for their areas of responsibility, from monthly lectures at the History Center to assisting with engaging summer kids’ events. You will coordinate events through a mix of outside presenters and developing and presenting your own programs. You’ll maintain registration, evaluate programs, and engage in community outreach to ensure events are in line with current interests.

Who are we looking for? We plan to hire someone who balances creativity with top-notch organization skills. We’re looking for a team player who enjoys the community connection that comes from running events and possesses the communication and technology skills required to connect with patrons onsite and online. A bachelor's degree in a related field, or equivalent education and experience, required. Experience working with the public is required, experience planning and executing events and working with individuals of all ages, preferred.
