Forums

Where is this? The Sussex-Wantage branch is the largest of the Sussex County Library System’s five branches, second only to our Main Library in size and annual circulation. It is a well-used and beloved fixture of the community, with an active Friends of the Library group and an outdoor performance space. The location offers ready access to outdoor recreation and the Route 23 corridor. The library system is in a time of change & growth; we’re looking for great people to lead the way.

Who are they looking for? A professional librarian with 2+ years of experience in adult or youth services, with interests in supervising & empowering staff, participating in a system-wide management team, & delighting library patrons. Bright, curious, friendly, versatile, service-oriented, leader—if you identify with these descriptors, we’re looking for you.

Why should I apply? Management positions offering this combination of day-to-day autonomy & long-term institutional support can be tough to find in NJ. If you are interested in stepping into a management role, or are an experienced manager looking to take another step forward in a team environment rich with peers & colleagues for collaboration & consultation, this could be just the opportunity for you.

What else do I need to know? Civil Service position (Librarian 3)—initial appointment provisional pending Civil Service procedure; 35 hours/week, including some nights & Saturdays; excellent benefits; salary range begins at $65,839; ALA-accredited MLS required; minimum two years’ professional (post-MLS) library experience required; valid driver’s license required; supervisory experience helpful; must reside in, or relocate to, NJ in accordance with state law.

I’m convinced! How do I apply? Resume & three professional references to kfreisinger [at] sussexcountylibrary.org or to Will Porter, Director, Sussex County Main Library, 125 Morris Turnpike, Newton, NJ 07860.  Application deadline: April 16, 2023.
